This time we annouce that our exhibition at Japan expo finished without any troubles, thanks to all people there who helped us.
Because this is the second time for us, we expected this attending would be easier than last year but it really were so busy as the last year. However, this time Cyril, our french friend, helped us a lot especially in linguistic support and also some support of logistics for us.
This help is the biggest factor of our attending.
We distributed around 450 CDs which is a little bigger than that of the last year, and talked with some people from press, who have interests into our activities and doujin music. Not as before, we could give them good answers to their offer with supports from Cyril. We think we got some nice oppotunities to spread doujin culture throuth this event.
It’s been a long time since I uploaded the last post…again,
because of the worst circumstance in internet-connection and …well it’s a silly excuse.
Finally, we’re now back in Japan, finishing 20days journey including attendance at Japan Expo !
It was really exciting and I can say our first attendance was totally suceeded !
We sold and handed almost all of the CDs to people in Europe, thankfully.
I firstly thought there was few people who know about doujin music and we would have had to take it easy but unexpectedly and thankfully, quite a few people came and show their interests into those CDs from the first day (thu).
This surprised me. I assume it would have been thanks to the fact there were few booths which present many CDs except us and were only 2 booths, including us, presented by Japanese there.
I could say we were lucky.
Sorry for having been kept you waiting.
This time we’re announcing the detail of showdo’s attendance at JAPAN EXPO.
Though we had heard from EJC ,an agency of JE, we would have had the detail around June, it was later than our expectation when we got it. Also, Packing, the procedures for the shiping, and some complicated works busied us so much that we annouce this such late. We’re sorry about it.
Well, let’s get onto the main question.
Our booth number is “CK-23 in HALL6″ and the name on show is showdo records.
We would appriciate if you annouce this infomation publicly on your website, blog or maybe SNSs.
Also, we’ve opened a youtube channel on youtube to upload the video of our activities in Paris and face book account too. We’re gonna upload the other information including photos and videos and/or some crappy pieces of sxxt. Check it out !
In addition to it, we made up the list of doujin circles of this coexhibition. This is the most important to you, I guess.
That’s the announcement for today. the left are our present situation.
You know, this is the first time we attend JE and now I’m feeling how heavy the expence for it is. Honestly, it was higher on the amount and heavier than I had expected.
We are facing a big wall between France and here in Japan and problems we have to solve later. These things would be reported on this page when we finish this big mission.
I also report the processes to attend JE introducing our struggle. this must be needed information by future attending circle.
Only two weeks left until JE…
It would come harder and harder and this expectation make me sick.
However, we think this is significant first step toward world-wide dojin culture.
We’ll hang on it with little anxity and big hope.
Thanks to all, especially to the circles which understand and supported us a lot.
Peace to Japanese great doujin culture.
Firstly, I want to say hello to visitors from other countries. We’re really glad that you found our website showdo records.
showdo records is a online store dealing in doujin music and some extra works and this site is mostly aimed for people outside Japan.
*doujin music is a kind of music forms influenced by anime, game, otaku cultures.
The first reason why we started to run this site is a mail we got in English. I was running a doujin music circle then and I thought it was a spam or something trashy because we usually didn’t get mail from foreigner. what was written was, against my expectation, passionate and lovely comments about our CD and the mail is from an American guy who bought our CD at last comic market. I felt very impressed. I sent my reply immediately and we exchanged mails for a few days. He didn’t understand Japanese language but he showed love to our country and his eagerness for revisiting Japan.
According to what he wrote, It is difficult for foreign people to get doujin works. if he need doujin works, he has to buy expensive resell products, download them illegally or get air flight ticket for Japan and attend doujin event.
I felt sorry and unhealthy about this situation. Doujin culture is now better known over the sea than that of before. I think works have to be gotten by ones who need it. There are people from other country who love this cultures and things but there is no infrastructure supplying these things.
Since then, I had received contacts from some foreigners who need our CD. I always said “I can upload it for you if you needed.” but they wanted it in packaged CD. This made me touched as well. The data is not problem, the things matter. It is lovely prefernce, I think.
I heard from some Japanese music circles that they had mails from foreigners like us but they didn’t know how to answer it and had to ignore it against their will. As you see, we’re not very good at English as well. However we want to reward one who shows his passion, want to spread this cultures and want to be your friends.
This is the reason.
showdo is the Japanese term which means “impulse”.
We want to share with you this impulse toward this cultures.
To foreign artists who like anime, comics, game and doujin works.
Showdo records is always eager to deal your works and introduce them. If you want to distribute your works in the world including Japan through showdo records, please contact us.
